John Poole 2nd Grade

 I found this today at Dad's house. It is from 1945 - Second Grade in Pentwater Elementary. 

He is in the center of the back row in front of the teacher.

Faye in Iran

This is me ( Faye ) on top of the apartment building I lived in for part of the time in Tehran Iran.  I have a scarf on my head. It was taken between 1976 and 1977.  The summer of 1977 I for my hair cut short and it was very curly. This was when I was trying to have long straight hair which was in style. Didn't work for me.  My friends even called me "flaming fuzz"

John and Marilyn family

This was with some other pictures and I think it was at a time my grandfather got an award or something.  This is the whole family  John, Marilyn, Faye, Rick and Mike.  Mike was born the summer of 1968 so I am guessing this is summer of 1969.

I think this is a Senior picture of Mom ( Marilyn ) Isn't she beautiful. 

Sweet 16 Marilyn and Sally

I have a photo album mom gave me from her 16th birthday party. This is one of the pictures. It is Marilyn and Sally. They are twins. I did a drawing from it and would like to paint it but I am afraid I will wreck it. We will see what I end up doing.

This is a photo from Mom and Dad's wedding ( John and Marilyn) . In February, they would have been married 60 years.  This is a photo of a photo. I couldn't get the scanner to work right.

Cora Alice Poole is my grandmother.  Her maiden name was Minnis.

Brent says this was the official mission picture. They took it in the mission home in North Carolina.

So many of our family pictures are taken at the cottages.  Many are because my grandmother (Margaret) would take them.  I don't think David is very happy in this picture.

Tonight I am going to scan and post a few pictures.  Just random but it is always better to have pictures out on the internet so some will survive if something happens to the originals.

This is my parent John and Marilyn - me  and the baby is my brother Rick.  There is no date on it.  From the size of Rick, I am thinking the summer of 1965.  

barberi bread

Here is a picture of me in Iran. This is barberi bead. I loved it. It was very cheap and there were tons of little bakeries everywhere that sold it.  I think I miss looking young like this too though.

Grandfathers

It wasn't very common for my grandfathers to be together. Grandpa Spink was at the store most of the time and Grandpa Poole lived in Guam and then Hawaii.

Uncle John

John Minnis was actually my dad's uncle but he was always Uncle John to me.  In some ways, I think he played grandfather to me.  Grandpa Poole was in Guam when I was a child and Grandpa Spink was busy running his business.

Tonight I am sharing two of my favorite pictures of Uncle John's family. The military took these pictures as publicity.  His family looks so happy here.  I know they had sad times ahead so I like to hold them in this happy time. Suspended in time.  Wish they could have stayed happily ever after.

These pictures are starting to deteriorate. I have the originals. I have scanned them before but I am scanning and posting them today for posterity.  These are large prints  8 by 10, I think.
